Schedule of Water & Sewer Rates
Generic Water & Wastewater Aging Infrastructure Info
This is a 25 minute video showing the issues of water & wastewater infrastructure that is much past its life expectancy. Much of the footage is applicable to Windsor's needs and why we are doing the capital work like Gerrish Street - Water and Sewer Upgrade and the Tongue Hill Water Transmission Main replacement scheduled for 2017. It also highlights the need for the now operational Waste Water Treatment Facility recently built, and the many other infrastructure that have been completed over the years. http://thewaterbrothers.ca/big-leak/
As previously, your water bill is payable within 30 days from the date of billing. If paid during that period, no interest will be charged. If your bill is not paid within the 30 days, interest will be charged at a rate as set by the Town for overdue property taxes. The annual interest rate is 15% or 1.25% per month.
Please, therefore, ensure that your account is paid within the 30-day period to avoid paying the additional interest. If paying by internet/telephone banking, please pay 3-4 business days prior to the due date to avoid late charges.
Schedule Of Water Rates Effective April 01, 2017 - March 31, 2018
Protecting Your Home during the Winter Season
Protection of the water meter and water services from damage and or freezing is the property owner’s responsibility. If your property is used seasonally, during the winter months it is critical that the meter be left in a heated location to prevent freezing. Should the water meter and or water service freeze, the property owner is responsible for paying for replacement of the water meter and other damaged, frozen equipment and piping. All water consumption that passes through a broken pipe, or water meter, will be billed to the property owner.
We can help to ensure that the water meter and service does not freeze during the cold winter months. The cost for this service is onetime fee of $50. This charge is billed on your regular water bill.
• The house/building must be drained first, either by the property owner or plumber to prevent any damage to the interior or exterior plumbing.
• After this is completed, the Water Department will shut the water off at the street and winterize and remove the meter. The meter will stay on the property
• In the spring, the Water Department will install the meter and turn the water on.
Town’s utility rates are structured so that all customers share in the fixed cost of providing utility service; therefore, although the water will be shut off at the street and meter removed you will still receive a utility bill for the water and sewer fixed base amount.
