Windsor Celebrates Sam Slick and
Thomas Chandler Haliburton
Who is Sam Slick?
Sam Slick is a fictional character created by Thomas Chandler Haliburton, a judge and resident of Windsor in the early 19th century. He was one of the most popular authors and humorists of his time, and is credited with such maxims as "It's Raining Cats and Dogs," "The Early Bird Gets the Worm," "Don't Take Any Wooden Nickels," "A Stitch in Time Saves Nine," and "Quick as a Wink". Sam Slick's likeness can be found on street signs, decorative lights in Windsor's downtown and on entrance signs to the Town. Don't forget to enjoy a stroll around the beautiful Haliburton House Grounds.
